Another San Diego “No More Auto Mode” photography workshop is in the books!
I had the pleasure of meeting four new students, all armed with Canon cameras and ready to finally break up with the Auto mode button. The weather was absolutely perfect—then again, this is San Diego, so that’s almost cheating.
One of the students was a teenager whose father drove all the way from Long Beach to attend the workshop. That’s a serious commitment!
It was also fun hearing everyone’s photography goals. Two students signed up because they have exciting trips coming up. One is heading to France and the other is traveling to Alaska with dreams of photographing the Northern Lights. No pressure—just one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on Earth!
By the end of the day, everyone understood how to use Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual Mode.
Thanks to all the students for making it such a fun day. Now go out there, practice, experiment, make a few mistakes, and take lots of photos. That’s how the magic happens!
If you’re looking for photography or camera classes, the next San Diego workshop is scheduled for June 23, 2026 (minimum of 4 students required).
