Hector’s Get out of Auto Mode workshop is a fantastic way to dive into the world of photography. This is class is very well organized into sections so you learn as you go in a way that makes sense and doesn’t feel like information overload. You’ll cover the basics of pretty much every type of shooting from portraits with blurred backgrounds to high-speed action shots. Prior to this workshop, I was someone who didn’t use his camera much (because I could do better with my iPhone). I now understand how much more powerful a good camera (than a mobile phone) can be when in the hands of someone who understands it. 10/10 would recommend.

I highly recommend taking this class either in San Diego or Las Vegas. Hector is a wonderful instructor. He takes the time with each student and is very knowledgeable about all the different types of cameras out there.If you want to move away from auto and have more control over what your camera can offer, this is the class for you.Can't wait to take more classes from Hector.

I really enjoyed the "No more Auto" workshop and wish I would've taken it a decade ago.Hector does a great job explaining things and answering questions and even provides a binder full of helpful information you can reference at home.After just one day, I feel more confident with my camera and have been able to take shots that I actually want instead of what auto mode gives me. I took this class yesterday and WOW!!! Hector was amazing! He took the time to explain to the features and the benefits. We all had different cameras and lenses, he knew the features on them and where to find them on each of our cameras. Explained the differences. He showed us some poses to use to create a story. He really is passionate about teaching. I would take more of his workshops for sure!! If you want to learn in a positive environment you have to take this workshop!

Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this workshop!! Hector is an absolutely AWESOME instructor. He worked SO hard all day, non stop, with such attention to detail, making sure each one of us got the knowledge we needed to "get out of Auto mode"...Mission Accomplished!! My 10 year old granddaughter and I both took the course, and she LOVED it! She was clicking away all day, and Hector made sure she got a great start to being an amazing photographer. He used many simple exercises to help us understand how everything works. Hector is very thoughtful, creative, patient and extremely knowledgeable...we could ask him any question, and he knew the answer. He taught us things you won't learn in any other workshop, i.e. "painting" with light?...take the course and you won't be disappointed!

This was a great class. Hector takes the time to work with each individual student, regardless of camera type. He covers all grounds. I was amazed how at the beginning of the class, I had 0 ability to work my camera and at the end, I know how to use all functions including the manual mode. Cameras are tricky, but if you take one class with him, that’s all you’ll need.
He is amazing and so is the class. Don’t think about it, just do it. You won’t regret it.

This was the first time I took a photography class. I bought a Canon T6 Rebel and had zero clue how to use it. Hector did a great job in teaching this workshop and yes, the hours are from 7am-5pm and it may seem long, but time flows because it is a very thorough class. I felt so much accomplished after this class that I finally understood my camera and all the information I learned from Hector was awesome. Great class and teacher! Well worth it.

If you have a DSLR camera and are not using it to it’s full potential, still using Auto Mode... then Hector’s class is for you!! Hector was an exceptional teacher, he took the time to explain things step by step, watched for facial cues and if you appeared confused, he took the time to address it. He really seems like he loves and enjoys photography and teaching people, wanting to see them get better. The day goes by so quick too, cause your learning so much and having a lot of fun too! This class is totally worth it, a lot of fun and amazing. If you are a new photographer or getting back to it, and want to understand how to use all of your camera functions (not just the Auto ones) this is for you! Hector is patient and takes the time to help everyone at whatever level you are at or what kind of camera you are using. Lots of practice and interaction. Although I need to practice, practice, practice everything I learned, I do feel more confident and comfortable with my camera. If you are looking for a photography workshop, don't look any further!

This photography class was a fun filled full day outside. You discover so, SO much about your camera!, finding the light and enjoy the excitement of being in an environment that compliments photography. I had SO much fun taking the Get Out of Auto workshop with Hector. Went into the class not knowing anything about cameras, it was basically the first time I used the camera I had all day, and left feeling so much more confident with what I was doing. I have been what some may call a semi-professional iPhone photographer for a few years now....which means not much of a photographer at all. lol. I travel a lot and love taking pictures of landscapes during my travels. I have long thought about getting my feet wet in the real world of photography. It was an intimidating thought but I was honestly tired with the limitations of a phone camera, so I finally bit the bullet. A friend of my husband's suggested purchasing a Sony Alpha 6000 as a good "starter" camera, so I did. Only problem was, I had no freaking clue how to use it.

Cue Hector and his class. I did some research and found Hector. I live in Ontario, so I was hoping to attend a class closer to home (he offers classes in Redlands and Temecula) but it was difficult getting the required amount of attendees to commit. I was tired of waiting, so I went to the San Pedro class. From start to finish, Hector was incredibly professional and responsible. His frequent communication will put the most anxious person's mind at ease. I let him know the equipment I was working with and he told me what I would need for the class. He didn't take payment from us until he received confirmation from the minimum amount of students (I believe it's five) - and he confirms and reconfirms just to be sure.

Yes, there's homework. And if you want to get the most out of the class, you will do it and take it seriously. Hector does his best to cover just about everything under the sun regarding your new camera. You will come out learning so much information, and if you haven't done your homework, you may feel a little lost. Plus, you'll hold everybody else back, so don't be that guy. I had a basic knowledge of the things Hector went over because I taught some of it myself by watching youtube videos and practicing. He does provide you with videos to watch on your own prior to to the class. Watch them! They really help you get a better understanding of how to work your camera.

The class itself was jam packed with information. He provided us each with our very own binder with all the information we covered. A great reference tool for later when you find yourself forgetting some things. We did countless exercises and Hector was great at checking in with us to make sure we were getting it all. I really had such a great time learning about my camera and really feel like my understanding of photography has increased a great deal. You certainly get more than your money's worth for this course.

The day is long, so make sure to get some good rest the night before and come prepared. Be ready to have your mind blown with what your camera can do! Hector truly was an awesome teacher, and I couldn't have been happier with this workshop!

If you want to learn how to use your camera properly, do not hesitate to take this class. I tried to learn from just reading the manual and watching online tutorials for two months prior to taking Hector's class. I learned more in the one day workshop than I did on my own. Hector gives you homework to do prior to the class so that you will get familiar with your camera because there are a lot of topics he will cover in the one day. During the class you will get a notebook full of important information that you can refer to later. Hector is very patient, knowledgeable, funny, interesting, and organized. Trust in him and you will enjoy the class while you learn a lot.

Couldn’t be happier with this workshop and highly recommended. I got a mirror-less camera about two months beforehand and had some time to read about Exposure and familiarise myself with the different settings. However, this workshop really took it to the next level in terms of understanding the different modes (Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual) and when/how to best use them. Hector is also super fun and patient to explain everything in detail and answer any possible questions. I first thought the workshop was a little long for a beginner class, but honestly, time went by super quickly since it was so much fun to learn and practice the new stuff right away.

If you really want to learn how to get out of "auto" then I highly suggest you take this class. The way that Hector has built his lesson plan from aperture mode, to shutter mode and then into manual mode is great. He takes time to break down the subtle nuances of those camera modes so you don't feel overwhelmed. This class gave me confidence to go out and shoot more so I don't lose what I gained from Hector. Take the class...get out of auto!

I have had my camera for a couple of years with the intention of using it for travel and food photography. I purchased books, viewed online tutorials and even attended another class, they helped somewhat but never held my interest long enough for me to grasp what my camera could really do, instead I felt overwhelmed. I found Hector's class on Facebook and tried to sign up a couple of times but there communications issues with emails etc... I finally was able to sign up for the class on Saturday and I definitely feel more in control of my camera and all that it's capable of. The class was organized and well planned and Hector was patient and methodical, by the end of the class we were all able to confidently manage the settings on our cameras and shoot pictures. I plan on seeking out photography groups to continue to hone my skills and I definitely recommend that anyone looking to conquer their fear of their camera settings sign up for this class. My only caveat is if you don't get a response to your initial inquiry try contacting him through Facebook or another way as I did not even find his emails in my spam, alas it remains a mystery : ) but I am now enjoying my newly honed skills! I look forward to my next vacation to really put them to the test! Thank you Hector!

I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I was blown away by how much I learned in one day! Hector made the class comfortable and fun even with it raining out. We moved at a fast pace but nothing everyone couldn’t keep up with and by the end we were having a great time shooting in Manuel and understanding what we were doing! A very helpful and informative day. Hector was gentle, calm and experienced.
You learn a lot more than just getting off Auto mode. You learn about the camera, equipment and the process the camera uses to create the perfect photo-this is essential to truly understand ISO, aperture and shutter speed.
I started the day with a major headache regarding these three things and left with a pretty good understanding of everything.

I was booked on the Get out of Auto Workshop as a Christmas present and was extremely excited at the prospect of learning more about using my Canon DSLR.

I have used SLR and DSLR cameras for quite a while now, with my first SLR a couple of decades ago (film), and despite years and years of ownership, I was a complete novice. I lived in the Auto mode on my camera, and regardless of how many youtube videos I watched, the concepts never stayed fresh. This class made everything I had read or seen actually make sense.

The course itself provided the right amount of theory mixed in with the right amount of practice to make learning the concepts of properly setting up your exposure. Where I had always struggled before was in how to leverage the aperture, ISO settings, and shutter speed correctly - and all of those concepts were addressed and taught in a way that really made sense to me. I can't wait to apply what I have learned in this class out in the wild on my next photo adventure.

I was so impressed and enjoyed the class so much that I am hoping to attend again with my wife so that she can get comfortable behind the camera. I would happily recommend this to anyone looking to learn more about the proper way to take beautiful photographs, and Hector was a great teacher to learn from.

I have been thinking of getting into photography for years, and finally took the plunge and bought a DSLR camera. I was trying to do reading and research on how to use it, and was getting more and more confused. I wanted a class where I could have the functions clearly explained to me, and Hector delivered! On June 2, 2018, I participated in Hector’s “Get Out of Auto” class. Prior to the class, Hector provides you with some homework. At first (and second) reading, it was very confusing; however, after reading the manual and then the homework again, and practicing what Hector was saying, it began to make sense. That is the key PRACTICE! Before the class – it will make knowing what is going on in the class much easier.
Hector is very organized and prepared. He thought of everything needed for the class – seating chart so those with similar cameras were grouped together, props, benches, canopies to keep everyone out of the sun, water and Gatorade to keep you hydrated and chips to snack on. The directions on where to park and where to find him were spot on (if one bothers to actually read them)
Hector provided everyone with a 3-ring binder with lots of information and covered it all throughout the day. We would go through sections of the binder and then shoot pictures to practice what we had reviewed. Then review another section, then practice. Hector is SO PATIENT!!!!
I agree with another reviewer there is A LOT to be learned/retained in one day and it is a long day – maybe that’s a sign I’m getting older – however, that said, everything covered in the class is included in the notebook so I can refer back to it if needed while I am practicing. As with anything – PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE is the key.
I am looking forward to practicing and using everything Hector taught us on Saturday and hopeful I will get some beautiful pictures when we cruise the Panama Canal this September – and I shoot in MANUAL – no more AUTO!!!!
I will definitely be taking another class with Hector in the future. More than anything, Hector made learning FUN! He’s a GREAT instructor, loves what he does and shares his passion with all.

Hector's all day workshop "NO MORE AUTO MODE WORKSHOP" exceeded my expectations. He covered a wide range of topics including how to hold your camera, selecting the various recording modes, drive modes, white balance, ISO, RAW vs JPG, and much more. He interacted with each of the students, and provided each student the opportunity to take pictures and experiment with different recording modes and drive modes. I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ300 LUMIX camera. Although Hector was not that familiar with my camera, he did some research on it prior to the class. The end result was that I learned more from Hector about how to use my camera to produce quality photos than from simply reading the owners manual. I highly recommend his workshop to the novice (like myself) or to anyone with more experience.

I love photography but I always use the auto mode even thought I have a nice DSLR camera. Reading the manual is overwhelming. It’s been my desire to take a class and I found this class by browsing online. I spoke to Hector on the phone inquiring about the class and I heard his passion in his voice. The class was very informative and I couldn’t have learn it just but reading or watching YouTube videos. He was hands on and guided you along the way. Learning and understanding of all the buttons and functions are very helpful. It was a little intimidating at first but you will get comfortable by the end of the day. Did I become a better photographer after the class? No and Yes. No because I still need to practice on my own and get really comfortable with my camera. Yes because now I understand the purpose of the all the function, buttons and settings on my camera that I know will help me get better photos. Hector is a great teacher. I really enjoyed the class.

This class is wonderful! Hector puts in a lot of time and energy to make sure all students are prepared for the class. I am a hands on learner and after the class I realized I learned more on that one day with Hector then I did watching 40 hours of video. I researched several beginners programs and I actually flew in from the midwest to attend this workshop. The experience was worth every penny that I paid to get there.

Hector is easy to be around and therefore I wasn't intimidated and felt I could ask questions comfortably. He is very organized and communication pre-class is top-notch. He assigned homework shortly before class to be sure we could at least understand the basics of photography before we arrived. He gave us a binder full of information and always took time for questions during class.

Plz do yourself a favor. If you want to take a workshop that is organized, priced fairly and taught by an instructor that is very passionate about his profession AND wants to see you succeed, SIGN UP. You WILL be a better photographer.

After taking two online classes on photography, I realized I was still clueless on how to operate a camera; I'm more of a hands-on learner. So, I did some research via Yelp and found Hector's Manual Mode class with 5-star reviews. I signed up and was super excited for the workshop.

Upon arrival at Sunset Park, Hector had a location set up with props, seating, water and snacks. He provided us with a binder full of information that was extremely helpful. Hector is so knowledgeable, patient and answers any questions you have. By the end of the day, I was comfortable shooting in manual mode and will never use Auto again!

Cons of the class: For me, personally, this workshop was about 3 hours too long. The first 5-6 hours incorporated a lot of understanding numbers (ISO, shutter speed & aperture), which doesn't come easily for me. My brain was so exhausted from all the info crammed in, that I was shut down when most of the shooting began toward the last couple of hours. In my opinion, this is a two-day class. One day to soak in all the number stuff and then another day to apply that info would have worked better for me.

Also, I felt the student to instructor ratio was too high. Hector said he usually has 8 students, which would have been perfect; I think we had 13 students. Toward the end, we did a lot of portrait shooting of students, which was great. But... it would have been nice to have the instructor look at the photos taken and provide instruction/critiques. I felt like we just kept shooting and shooting with no individual critiques on how to get amazing pics similar to the ones Hector took. I was unsure on what to improve on or do differently, so I stopped shooting. There was just too many students for more specialized attention.

Overall, a great workshop; I learned a ton. You will get so much more out of this 1-day class vs. online classes and vs. college classes. I look forward to taking more of Hector's workshops. He knows his stuff!

Ok, don't walk, run to Hector's class. If you are interested in learning how to really work your camera, I promise you, you will leave his class with what you need in order to do so. Wow, Hector's "Get out of Auto Class" was fantastic. I see few people work as hard as Hector does. He is really passionate about teaching photography and he is so patient and kind with his students. Hector is an organized teacher with a lesson plan which he thoroughly explains and gives each student time and assistance in understanding the information and finding the settings on their own cameras. For the money, this is a great value. We spent an entire day at the park doing "classroom" time and practicing what we learned. I will be taking more classes with Hector to continue learning about photography. After this class I do feel much more confident in taking good pictures and I understand how to operate in Manual mode--which was completely foreign to me before the class. My wife bought me a one day 'Get Out of Auto' class, she is the queen of research and once again her due diligence paid off in selecting Hector's class.

His class is well structured, with useful handouts, and Hector takes his time to explain the important functions, which has allowed me to get creative with my camera. I'll never use 'auto' again!

One note, Hector does hammer home the importance of doing some pre-class homework. It isn't difficult, but it really helps you get the most out of his class...make sure you do your homework!

Let me begin by saying that I was signed up for this class against my will. I've had a Canon for a while but was not taking photos (because I didn't know how to use my camera lol) My husband sent me an email with the class info and told me he signed me up because the reviews were really good.I was in Hector's "Get Out Of Auto" class. It was very educational, fun, easy and empowering. He taught us how not only use our cameras but also gave us tips and on how, where and where. He 'made sure that every single person was on the same page and understood how to use their camera, settings etc..(even though there were all different types of cameras). The class is fairly long 7am-5:30pm. But you'll learn so much. He's very professional yet very personal. Very warm personality, friendly and funny. You will not regret taking this class especially if you are a beginner. I had a fantastic time, learned a lot and at the end of the class we all became friends. I would love to take another class by Hector. Can't wait to see what he's got in sore next!***DON'T FORGET TO PRACTICE WHAT YOU'VE LEARNED!!!!

Whether you want to do this as a hobby or take the workshop as a first step in a photography career, you will be happy with the results. I went in there knowing next to nothing about my camera and came out feeling much more confident! My 14 year old daughter and I took the get out of auto class together. Hector is a great teacher. He gave us some work before class so we could maximize our learning during the actual class. Went into the class as a novice, and left the class with a general understanding and skill set to take different types of photos in manual mode, aperture and shutter priority. Snacks and study manuals were provided, and learned everything from basic fundamentals- to physics- to taking photos in extreme conditions (weather, darkness etc.) The Long Beach "No More Auto Mode" workshop was a great investment! Hector really takes our education seriously-- imagine my surprise when we had a test at the end-- but l left with a deep appreciation for his passion and patience as we learn everything about our cameras and how to use them. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone who has a DSLR or is considering getting one. It's a shame to have a camera that can do amazing things and not be able to take advantage of it. The workshop is worth every penny. Go for it!!

If I could give this class 6 stars, I would! This was one of the best photography investments I've made since I purchased my camera. I loved every minute and learned more than I could have hoped to! From the moment I signed up for the class, Hector communicated with me about my camera, the pre-course work, etc. Then, on the day of the class, I got so much more from the class than I could have expected. There were so many basic skills taught in a manner which made them understandable and enjoyable ...the class was actually FUN! I walked away feeling like I could be confident taking photos in many situations (and not just in the ONE mode I knew how to use). I learned all the buttons on the camera and I'm beyond excited to start playing around with my new knowledge. I'm grateful for the expert learnings, the easy way Hector presented it and that it was so enjoyable and understandable.

Last weekend I took Hector's Get Out of Auto Mode class in Las Vegas. It was the best decision I've made and was money well spent! I had some knowledge going into the class from a brief 2 hour presentation class, but this goes well beyond that. He helps you understand your camera, and then puts you in situations to help give you hands on experience. It is an all day workshop, but goes quickly. He is very well prepared and creates an area you use for the day. He has a tent and chairs for a comfortable learning environment and provides water, Gatorade and snacks to help get you through the day. You do have homework he assigns the week before, but it helps get everyone to a place where everyone has a similar understanding of the camera, which helps the class progress. When you arrive, you receive a very large handbook in a 3 ring binder of everything you go over in the class, which is great to look back at as you practice. His hands-on exercises helped demonstrate a concept and made it easier to learn and remember. This was probably one of the best classes in general that I've taken and felt like I got a ton out of it. I feel a lot more confident in the pictures I am taking now and look forward to using this as a foundation to continue to grow from. Hector is a phenomenal teacher and a great photographer. If you are even considering taking one of his classes, do it. You won't regret it.

I had a blast taking Hector's class! He really opened my eyes to what my camera can do for me. He covers everything you have been wanting to learn about your camera including what equipment to buy and what all those modes actually mean! Hector also teaches all the information in a way that is relatable and easy to grasp - he even gives you a how-to binder of everything he taught that day. Thanks to the small class sizes, he is able to really help everyone individually and answer all questions along he way. I also really enjoyed meeting all the great people in class as well. I would highly recommend anyone new to the DSLR world to take his classes, you'll thank yourself later :)

I took DSLR workshop in San Pedro June 11, 2016 with Hector Gonzales. I got my DSLR camera few months ago, but I was shooting with Auto Mode only, because understanding the buttons was overwhelming. After spending a day with Hector, I feel very different about photography and understanding, how the camera works. Hector is an amazing photographer and an amazing instructor. I took Hector's get out of auto workshop because I bought a new dslr camera and knew nothing about it. I was hoping to gain basic knowledge of how the camera works (besides auto mode) in a fun friendly environment. I picked Hector's class based on the reviews I read and I was not disappointed. Hector was patient, knowledgeable, funny but most importantly, passionate about photography. He made the class fun and interesting but informative at the same time. I would HIGHLY recommend this class if you are looking to learn how to use a DSLR camera and get out of auto mode.

I recently (Temecula May 1, 2016) took Hector's class, get out of Auto Mode, and was not only thrilled but completely amazed with what I learned. Hector has a gift of teaching to all different levels and learning styles. He doesn't simply show you the buttons on your DSLR but allows you to take pride in discovering, while thinking for yourself, how they work and why. His interactive techniques were extremely well planned, organized, and at times had a fun comical edge, only adding to a beautiful relaxing day. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Hector's class and can proudly say, from now on it is Manual Mode!

This class is truly fantastic!
For years I have been saying I should take a class to learn how to use my Canon Rebel DSLR camera other than in auto mode. My husband signed me up for Hector's "Get out of auto mode" and it couldn't have been better.
You will receive some homework before the class that forces you to look at all your camera buttons and play around with them. The class itself is 10+ hours long (so prepare yourself for a long day) and you will get a binder with everything you learned that day.
Hector goes over all the basic photography terms, best practices, equipment and your goals of taking the class.
After reviewing all the physical buttons on your camera he explains each function in detail and makes you practice. The class is very hands on so you can see the effect of different settings on your own camera and learn from it.
You will go through all options of your camera until you "graduate" to shooting in manual.
Hector is amazing and it shows that he loves photography and teaching alike. He has the day perfectly planned out and created a great manual that you get to take home. He also answers any questions that you have and makes sure he has the right props so you can practice!
Don't waste your time or money on other classes, as tempting as the Groupon photography classes might sound. You will just end up taking Hector's class anyway :)

If you are looking for an amazingly comprehensive photography class that will teach you to use your camera to take amazing pictures, look no further! I decided to take Hector's class based on all of the 5 start reviews he has and the class TOTALLY lived up to all those stars! Hector is a great teacher and I was so impressed with his ability to take something that he knows backwards and forwards, and break it down into steps, hands on activities and explanations that help even the most novice of photographers learn. Hector is very laid back and makes the day so much fun and educational. By the end of the day I felt like I knew my camera and had the skills to be able to take a great picture! I am so excited to practice my new skills and continue improving my photographs, armed with all of the amazing tools, tricks, tips and skills that Hector was able to teach me. I was a little nervous when I recieved my "pre-homework" for this class and was not sure if I would do well in the class. The homework is very minimal BUT helped me to better understand the concepts that were taught during the day. Hector takes the time to show you how everything works on your camera and HOW those buttons will help you take great pictures. I don't have a bad thing to say about this class, it was flat out AWESOME!! Thank you Hector!!!

WOW! Where to even begin? I just took Hector's class this Saturday and was blown away! I did not know what to expect out of a full day photography class, and walked away SO excited and much more knowledgable about my camera! Hector is so passionate about photography, which transfers to his students! He could answer every question about every camera, regardless of the brand. During the wonderful day together, we learned ALL about the best ways to use our cameras, the three most important rules (take the class to learn!), lighting, and other great tips and tricks! Hector, Magnifico!! If you want to learn how to use a camera Hector is the man. A teacher and a gentelman who takes the time individually on every lesson we are working on. I did not expect how he takes so much time for every person and never misses a name and never misses a beat. I really, really, really enjoyed the Beginners “Get out of auto mode” class held in Las Vegas on March 28. I learned so much. It was a long day but packed full of learning, fun, and enjoying the company of fellow beginners and the patient tutoring our first-class instructor. I can’t wait to slowly go through everything and let it sink in so that someday it’s all second nature. It was obvious Hector has put a lot of work and effort into this class, and it shows. He has a heart for wanting his students to learn how to use their cameras and he passes on the genuine passion he has for photography. He took what initially seemed difficult and confusing and laid the foundation for us now to take and build and grow our knowledge and comfort and skill with the camera. I’m really excited about going through his workbook and practicing everything he covered and someday taking his Advanced class. Thank you for a truly incredible learning experience. I took the Get Out Of Auto Mode workshop and it was some of the best money I have ever spent. I had very limited knowledge on how to use my camera before the workshop. I was so new to my DSLR I didn't even know how to hold my camera correctly. Hector teaches the advantage of using manual mode and now I primarily use manual mode because of all the advantages it offers. I went from not knowing how to hold my camera correctly to knowing how to correctly shot in manual mode through this workshop. I highly recommend it.

I had been wanting to learn how to use my Cannon Rebel T3 in Manual Mode and wanted a hands on class VS. an online class ..I found Hectors class by searching the internet for a photography class in my area "Temecula". Took the pt. 1 Class "Getting out of Auto Mode" .. and it was awesome. Hector took all the fear out of switching from Auto to Manual. He Has a Simple way of explaining how to use aperature, shutter speed and ISO and teaching you how each manual mode works. He brings a binder with all the information he teaches in class and sends each student home with their own binder. There were 8 people in class (his max.).. and we all got his hands on attention and help throughout the class .. and we all pitched in to help one another. It was a full day of information and hands on teaching. Hector was very friendly and welcoming and very easy to understand and work with. I asked him on lunch break how long it would take before I would be totally out of Auto Mode and he said the end of this class .. and sure enough .. I'm out of Auto Mode ! .. I'm looking forward to practicing and getting better with time and can't wait to take another of Hectors classes in the near future. Thanks so Much Hector for making the day such a pleasure to learn.. no less in a beautiful location too ! Everyone that took this class had a great time ...

Took Hector's "Getting Out Of Auto Mode" class, and It was exhilarating to learn about the composition of a complicated piece of equipment and everything was made easier with his guidance into Shutter Speed, Apertures, ISO, WB etc.,. Hector was caring, patient and knowledgeable. I hope to practice enough and take his other classes. If better photography is your goal, here is your man. I highly recommend his classes.
